Hardin tient un journal secret. Il y raconte son histoire, avant sa rencontre avec Tessa et pendant les semaines qui vont changer sa vie. Un journal où les filles de sa bande : Nathalie, Molly, Melissa et Steph tiennent un rôle essentiel. Ce journal lui permet d'évacuer sa colère et d'analyser ses sentiments. Nous y découvrons ses secrets, ses doutes, son âme... peut-être pas si noire qu'il y paraît. Ce point de vue d'Hardin nous incitera-t-il à l'indulgence ? Car la vie n'a pas épargné Hardin. Il a subi un traumatisme qu'un enfant ne devrait jamais vivre, sans l'amour de ses parents pour l'aider à le surmonter. La rage s'est emparée de lui et ne l'a plus quitté. Il est sombre, solitaire et ne se permet aucune émotion, hormis l'adrénaline de ses méfaits et le sexe. Il se fout de tout, même de lui-même. Jusqu'au jour où sa route croise celle de Tessa... Sera-t-il capable de l'aimer ?

J'ai pas accroché à ce début d'histoire apparemment de 5 ou 6 personnages, pour moi inconnus.  Il semblerait qu'il vaille mieux lire After avant Before! Je tenterai ça...

Miss Seeton joue un rôle très secondaire dans ce tome, bien qu'elle ait tout compris et dessiné, comme à son habitude.

J'ai beaucoup apprécié ce livre: une chicklit de Noël bien tournée, pleine de bons sentiments sans être mièvre.  Bref une excellente lecture pour les vacances d'hiver.
